Skill/Content and Objective - Identify the correct numbers on a ten frame
Materials - number cards 0-20, ten frame cards 0-20, ink blotter, color chips
Description: This game can be played in various ways.
1. Matching: Have all cards facing down except for the 10 frame cards. Students take turns picking number from the face down cards. They then will have to match the correct number to its corresponding ten frame card.
2. Make a ten frame: Have the number cards facing down. Students take turns picking a number. Using the blank ten frame cards, students will have to create their own based on the number drawn using an ink blotter or color chips.
Suggestion for Differentiation: For a student not familar with tenframes, start them off with 0-10. Increase the numbers as they master the concept.
Assessment:
Formative: As you walk around the room, look to see if students are matching the numbers with the correct ten frame cards. Ask question such as "Why did you pick that card to go with that number? What number is represented by this 10 frame card?
Summative: Ask students to complete one math talk card to show along with the corresponding number and 10 frame card.
