Blog: http://petersons-pad.blogspot.com/2012/09/beginning-of-year-math-stations-freebies.html
Skill/Content and Objective: Recognize numbers 0-9 and write the corresponding numerals.
Materials: 10 sided die
Description:
A pair of students take turns Rolling the Die with a partner. The student who rolls the die will have to recognize and identify the number and trace the number on the worksheet. Whoever traces all the numbers first wins!
Differentiation: Students may consult with their partner if they are unfamiliar with the numbers or have problems recognizing which number to trace. Students who master the game may add in another die and trace both numbers the dice land on.
Assessment:
Formative - Look for students actively rolling the die, discussing the answers with their partners, and tracing numbers on the worksheet.
Summative - When the student rolls the die, ask the student to verbally tell you which number the die landed on. Take note of whether or not the student correctly identified the number and if they were able to trace the corresponding number on the worksheet.
